GoKS Overview & Architecture

Discover the core philosophy, technical architecture, and design tenets of the GoKS fullstack framework.

GoKS (Go Kickstart)is a production-grade fullstack web framework written 100% in Go. It enables engineers to build modern, type-safe, reactive web applications where both backend server logic and frontend interactive UI are authored in Go.

Core Philosophy

  • Zero Node.js or JavaScript Runtime:Eliminate massivenode_modulesdirectories and fragile npm dependencies. Tailwind CSS is compiled via a standalone Rust binary managed entirely by GoKS.
  • Islands Architecture (0 KB WASM):Static content ships as clean, pure HTML with zero client-side JavaScript or WebAssembly overhead. WebAssembly hydration is loaded strictly for interactive components.
  • Single Standalone Binary:Ship your entire application—server, WASM runtime, Tailwind CSS, templates, and static assets—inside a single, deployable executable.
  • Next.js Ergonomics:File-system routing (page.gox,layout.gox), REST API routes (app/api/**/route.go), and streaming SSR withcomponent.Suspense.

How GoKS Works

GoKS introducesGOX(.goxfiles)—a declarative, JSX-like markup syntax written natively inside Go. During development or production builds, the GoKS compiler transpiles.goxfiles into high-performance, strongly-typed Go AST nodes in an isolated workspace (.goks/workspace).
